Today's music picks: Katy Perry, Bruno Mars announce tour dates
Katy
Perry is ready to "Roar." The Grammy-nominated pop star, who has again
struck gold with the single "Roar," has announced dates for her upcoming
Prismatic World Tour. It kicks off
22 in North Carolina and
includes stops in 46 cities. And -- yes, Bay Area Perry fanatics -- it
does include a night at SAP Center in San Jose on Sept. 22. Tickets for
the San Jose show ($28-$150.50, subject to change) go on sale at 10 a.m.
January 27 through www.ticketmaster.com. There are, of course, pre-sale opportunities, which you can learn about at www.katyperry.com.
Truth be told, Perry is far better on the radio than she is on the live
stage. Yet, I'm hoping that changes with this new tour. Read full story

It's
time for more Moonshine. Bruno Mars has added more dates to his
Moonshine Jungle Tour and performs May 28 at Oracle Arena in Oakland.
Tickets go on sale Feb. 3 through www.ticketmaster.com.
Prices haven't been announced yet, but on another stop in the same
tour, prices are listed at $50.75-$98.25. Mars is up for four trophies
at the 56th Grammy Awards, which take place Jan. 26 in Los Angeles. Most
notably, his smash "Locked Out of Heaven" is nominated for both record
and song of the year. He'll also headline this year's Super Bowl
halftime show, which, conveniently, happens just one day before those
Oakland tickets going on sale. Read full story here.

Kacey
Musgraves, Capital Cities and Tegan and Sara will split the opening-act
duties on Katy Perry's tour. I don't know which one will perform in San
Jose, but I've got my fingers crossed that it's Musgraves. She's an
amazing young country singer-songwriter, who I believe has a strong shot
at taking home the best new artist award at this year's Grammys. Let's
hope she find her way to San Jose. Listen to a stream of Musgraves'
album below.
